CONSISTENT – AIN’T NO BUMP (EXPLOITED)

Posted in Cut The Noize on March 25th, 2010 by alt

From the desk of EXPLOITED RECORDS we present you the current house bomb by CONSISTENT.
Previously having released on FRONTROOM (“MIDNIGHT BLEND”) and TFE (“PROPER BALANCE”), CONSISTENT – the anonymous crew of well-known producers – puts the focus back on straight up house with their “AINT NO BUMP”-EP.
Having had recent success with remixes for DANIEL HAAKSMAN‘s “DEIXA TOCOR” on MAN RECORDINGS and TOMSKI&FREDBOY’s “DO THE TARTELET” (one of the club anthems at COOKIES Club Berlin in 2009) on TARTELET, this new installment on EXPLOITED now brings you 4 slices of modern jacking house.
CONSISTENT proceed to amaze, combining sexy vocal samples lurking deep in the mix, cut up heavy house chords and moody late night swings, seamlessly cycling through Mr Skruff-style trouser jazz, never stopping the addictive beats and bassline bounces. Joyously funky, it will reassure you that, thank God, CONSISTENT are not from Chicago, but from Berlin.
This 4 track-EP on EXPLOITED is designed to be a microcosm of a night out.

ARTWORK
EXPLOITED blend quality dance music with quality packaging and trendsetting design aesthetics. The current artwork is the kick-off to a new design series on Exploited. Expect more paintings from JANI LEINONEN who is probably one of the most intriguing artists in Helsinki. His work “UNDRESS ME“ (featured on Exploited) took inspiration from retro saucy/pornographic magazines. Get ready to feel used to enjoy exploitation.

Health – Die Slow / Before Tigers (Remixes)

Posted in Cut The Noize on March 22nd, 2010 by alt

HEALTH are set to release a 500 piece limited white label 12“  incl. a Chris Clark and Gold Panda remix in Europe!

On September 7th 2009, HEALTH answered the call and returned with their second album GET  COLOR (their first one for CITY SLANG). Recorded in an especially gnarly part of Lincoln  Heights, L.A., GET COLOR is an exuberant proclamation of noise, rock and electronic splendor. The record is a celebration of sound; pretty, harsh, soft and basked in a  blanket of ethereal vocals. GET COLOR is the manifesto HEALTH have been promising since their inception.  HEALTH are the new frontier of noise rock. Formed in 2005, HEALTH self-recorded their debut album over the course of 9 months at Los Angeles D.I.Y. venue The Smell, birthing an urgent and extraordinary album which seethed with ghostly, epic pop and spurts of chaotic  noise. The band’s shows grew wilder;  kids danced & moshed; blogs freaked out; critics  raved  and everyone wondered how in God’s name HEALTH was going to follow it up. While the anticipation continued to build, HEALTH released a critically-acclaimed remix  record HEALTH//DISCO, toured with the likes of Crystal Castles, Nine Inch Nails, and Of Montreal and played over 420 shows!

After massive feedback from the band’s blogging fans on several remixes in 2009
(accompanying their studio album GET COLOR), these two new tracks are another demonstration of their keen sense of remixes. Chris Clark appears courtesy of WARP, as their own eclectic IDM wizard, and has produced acclaimed remixes of Friendly Fires, Amon Tobin and Maximo Park. Gold Panda has been hailed as one of the best new artists of 2009 by outlets like Pitchfork and 20jazzfunkgreats… and that only with one EP and one 7″ to his name. The bizarre Clark remix with its pared-down vocal part and the trippy Gold Panda remix of Before Tigers will be bringing the unique HEALTH sound straight to dancefloors.

Watch out for  HEALTH amazing live shows in Europe this spring – here are the first confirmed festivals – more dates to follow soon!

22th April 2010                    UK – London             ETHER 10 at Southbank Centre
29th May 2010                     ESP – Barcelona        Primavera Sound

Black Van – Yearning (DFA)

Posted in Cut The Noize on March 4th, 2010 by alt

I was a bit surprised after i heard who the two guys behind Black Van are. Positivly surprised.

Well, it’s a get-together of two of the highly respected electronic music producers in Europe. koweSix, one half of Moonbootica and Kris Menace, who e.g. causes quite a stir with his remixes for Depeche Mode, LCD Soundsystem or Robbie Williams just to name a few.

With Black Van Kowe and Kris share their love for early electronica and disco sound and their first single “Yearing”, with a huge Emperor Machine Remix coming out on march 29th on DFA is such hot shot which makes me hungry for their following releases.
