Zpyz – Racecar (Remixes)

Posted in Cut The Noize on January 25th, 2011 by alt

Since release of their genre bounding debut album „2080“ Berlin ´s freshest band ZPYZ (which is pronounced as Spice being reminiscent of the legendary UK pop act Spice Girls) is on the lips of any indie pop lover. For the second single release ,Racecar‘, which were prominently used while F1 champion Vettel squeezed in a few laps around Brandenburg Gate, the band has been snapped up by two of this years biggest shooting star producers of the bass heavy electro club scene. As you´d expect, Dirty Disco Youth and Dumme Jungs both dropping high energized re-rubs turning ,Racecar‘ into ear busting dancefloor dynamite.

Go and check them!

ZPYZ do love great pop music and have now produced one of the most versatile pop albums of recent times. Each song is different, but they are held together by one common characteristic: they are addictive!
Is it Brian Ferry revelling on top of a synth-melody that could be by Digitalism or Chromeo? Are those the Beastie Boys performing a track that sounds like Bloc Party? Is this KISS with a modern interpretation of „I was made for loving you“? And why did the Neptunes put their latest track on this album? These are the kind of thoughts and speculations that come to mind when putting on ZPYZ’s ecstatically pop-celebrating debut record.
Especially in terms of great melodies and hook lines ZPYZ are one of a kind. With razor-sharp choruses ZPYZ go from a modern version of Hairy Metal to pumping Synth-Pop without ever loosing the energy that great pop music is all about. They are not even afraid of cocky Space Rock and glitzy Glam-Pop. It is evident that their music is meant for being played out – it’s like a firework waiting to be lit. ZPYZ are no studio bunnies, they are real entertainers – something they have in common with the great pop bands of the 1980s. ZPYZ are subcultures response to pop music today. ZPYZ are soooo 2080.

Round Table Knights album coming on february

Posted in Cut The Noize, Videos on January 12th, 2011 by alt

Round Table Knights, for me, the two smart swiss guys are one of the biggest highlights of the last years. And 2010 seems to be their break-through. They brought this kind of freshness in the club. Not heavy like Steve Aoki, Don Rimini etc. , not minimalistic like Villalobos or Hawtin. It is something in between with a squirt of pop, which makes their music suitable for the dancefloor but for homelistening too.
Say What?! Feat. Ogris Debris now, is their first track from the same called album, coming out on february 28.  Check out their video and the album preview below.

Each rider is equipped with an ipod and a custom-built app to measure their air time and trigger graphics whilst in the air and on landing.
