Friendship, love or one’s own self-discovery – everything begins with this simple question: Who Are You?
With their title track from the eponymous debut album, the quartet Hansmann & Klausing is recalling this thought by supplying one of the summer anthems 2015. With a Caribou’esque light-footed breeze, the Erfurt-based act combines the sometimes moody, sometimes confident voice of singer Martin Hansmann with Sebastian Klausing’s subdued house beats, before Robert Fränzel is pushing the right keys on his saxophone.
The Zurich-based duo Animal Trainer is not only an instance of the legendary Hive Club, the Swiss already revealed their passion for pop songs with plaintive vocals on such labels like Katermukke and Stil vor Talent. Their remix of „Who Are You“ is not only attacking every dance floor immediately, but also operating with a unique sense for playful synths who are soaring into crazy-wacky acid pirouettes.
Gunjah (Kompakt / Dantze Rec.) from Dresden, who contributes the second remix, already shared the widely acclaimed compilation “Neo.Pop Neun“ with Sebastian Klausing back in 2011. The long-time DJ friend loves playing with deep basses, designs his own rhythm, skillfully manipulates the vocals, but still hold onto to the introverted dreaminess of the original. Go with the flow!
