Acid WashedTitle: General Motor, Detroit, America / Snake (Remixes) Label: Record Makers
So we hope, this very special release coming your way from one of the most exciting labels – Record Makers (home of Kavinsky, Sebastien Tellier) will suit you pretty well. Their latest signing Acid Washed are crafting cosmic disco party tunes, as additionally produced by Xaver Naudascher (DFA / Supersoul). Remaining mysterious, they claim themselves to be a primarily two-man process creating a combination of filter house and DFA disco via a collection of close friends and analogue equipment. This idea of collaboration is paramount to Acid Washed, holding a list of musicians with labels and artists such as Gavin Russom (aka Black Meteoric Star), Christian Kreuz (Get Physical), Arnaud Rebotini of Blackstrobe, Turzi (Record Makers), Barbara Panther, and Christophe Chassol (Sébastien Tellier, Phoenix) waiting in line. Acid Washed described themselves: „If DFA made love to Daft Punk, we would be their secret, crazy and beautiful lovechild“ General Motors, Detroit, America is the first offering to emerge from the mysterious Parisian dance duo, Acid Washed. The influence of Chicago and Detroit techno lingers on the backseat in this six-minute joy-ride of sprawling atmospheric electronica. British artist Anthony Burrill directed a hypnotic video for the epic space disco journey of GMDA: watch it here! On the flipside, Snake amply showcases a different, more collaborative side to Acid Washed. Berlin based newcomer, Barbara Panther, catches the eye with a sultry vocal performance with a sting in the tail. Equally adept at providing softness, her dynamism shimmers alongside the deft production. As per usual, Record Makers have assembled a stellar remix package. Put in the hands of Black Strobe, the measured quality of General Motors, Detroit, America finds itself infused with a tension that thrills and flickers with a brooding energy that belongs on the dancefloor. Gavin Russom (of DFA fame) calms the restless pulse at the heart of Snake, evoking the Aztec spirit of DJ Rolando before overdrawn arpeggiated solos are used to disrupt with pleasing effect. The result is an 8min cowbellfilled latin house / disco journey. To close the package perfectly across genres there is an peaktime banging version by Alan Gay and a remix by King of Kong´s Hell in Paradise we don´t know much about, besides behind it are two guys called Arthur 8 & Max Skiba. next dates:Jan 16, 2010 – Cookies – Berlin
