Munk – ‘The Bird And The Beat’ album

Posted in Cut The Noize, Videos on March 2nd, 2011 by alt

As we know Mathias Modica is always a garantour for futuristic sounds. With “The Bird And The Beat” Munk comes up a wide range of styles based on House, Eurodance, Italian Pop, French Chansons, Brasil Funk and even German dadaism. An this time he features ten girls from different countries: E.g. Lou from New Young Pony Club (by the way: She is on tour with Kate Parry). Clara Cometti from Kitsuné. Pollyester from Munich. Joyce Muniz from Brasil….

A German magazin described it as “…sounds like Feist jamming with Caribou produced by a new house geek like Tensnake..”

In Germany the album entered straight  iTunes Dance Charts No5 and is the “album of the month” in some of the leading dance magazines around the world.

For a limited time Gomma will give you two singles as a free download. Just subscribe to their newsletter.

Posted in Cut The Noize, Videos on February 17th, 2011 by alt

Homework - Hudson Square EP

Their new EP is more soulful than their last releases and should be appreciated especially by people who like the latest output by Wolf & Lamb or Crosstown Rebels. Soul Clap already give KUDOS….so do many other DJS do from all scenes involved.
Since their release of FISSA TUNE on EXPLOITED, HOMEWORK have been playing every weekend all over the best venues of Europe (including Panoramabar Berlin, Social Club Paris, Hive Club Zuerich, Culture Club Ghent and more). Their remix of “Say Whats?!” for the Round Table Knights will be released soon and we got more goodies coming by Homework on EXPLOITED your way. 2011 is definetly going to be Homework’s big year.

Hercules & Love Affair – My House

Posted in Cut The Noize, Videos on February 11th, 2011 by alt

With the self-titled debut album by Hercules & Love Affair, the band behind Andrew Butler dropped a milestone in the house scene. Critics were absolutely thrilled and it was no surpriese that the album leaped into the top ten annual charts 2008 of Pitchfork. Even the New York Times titled it as the “Breakthrough Album 2008″.

After a successful year that was dominated by an extended tour, Andrew Butler retired a bit to relax and work on new material:

I wanted a quieter existence when I was not touring.”

Now they are back and with “blues songs” they present their second album. A work that grabs the listener immediately and rub on the dance floor. In Butler’s own words:

It’s a softer record in some ways, and at other moments a more aggressive record too. (…) It was not just a simple question of recording but, that is progressing. I wanted to explore my voice as a songwriter and use different instruments, ones I would not have used on the first album, like a clarinet, or an acoustic guitar. There’s a very lyrical quality to a lot of the music on this record.

With the first single “My House” Hercules & Love Affair’s upcoming work is waiting in the wings and offers a more housy, soulful and reminiscences from the late eighties, which make the song relentlessly danceable. It is no wonder that Butler says of himself:

I’m a dance music fanatic (…)

Round Table Knights album coming on february

Posted in Cut The Noize, Videos on January 12th, 2011 by alt

Round Table Knights, for me, the two smart swiss guys are one of the biggest highlights of the last years. And 2010 seems to be their break-through. They brought this kind of freshness in the club. Not heavy like Steve Aoki, Don Rimini etc. , not minimalistic like Villalobos or Hawtin. It is something in between with a squirt of pop, which makes their music suitable for the dancefloor but for homelistening too.
Say What?! Feat. Ogris Debris now, is their first track from the same called album, coming out on february 28.  Check out their video and the album preview below.
