The Rapture - How Deep Is Your Love

Five years have passed since The Rapture released their last album, but the wait was worth it: The trio from New York is back with an impressive album from disco, pop and wave.

The release of the new album (early September) “In The Grace Of Your Love” marks the beginning of a new chapter in the band’s history and a welcome return to DFA Records, whose founder, James Murphy and Tim Goldsworthy her debut album “Echoes,” produced.

House of Jealous Lovers” was their first international hit, which appeared on DFA and still manage to be a milestone in the indie-dance / dance-punk scene is traded and may have founded a whole movement.
Together with the French producer Philippe Zdar (Phoenix, Beastie Boys, Chromeo), the band worked out an album that documented clearly how the long time has been since the last album as the most productive and most important of her career.

The seemingly casual party atmosphere of days gone by obscuring the fact that tension built up within the band and eventually left the band bassist Matt Safer.  But they have managed to create space for the creative and personal space and present themselves now as a mature band that has found himself.

Already with the first lines of the single “How Deep Is Your Love?“, One of Luke’s voice is carried along in a wave of lyrical optimism.

“How Deep Is Your Love?” is not only an outstanding triumph of the band, but a courageous and euphoric song that was written with heart and soul and unambiguously makes clear that The Rapture are back, to new heights like never before before.

Holy Ghost! – Wait & See

Posted in Cut The Noize on March 24th, 2011 by alt

For just two years now, Holy Ghost! release greatest songs and remixes. Singles such as “Hold On” and “I Will Come Back” and the EP released last summer, “Static On The Wire” could  inspire not only music fans and critics but also colleagues such as MGMT, Moby and Phoenix .

Finally the long awaited debut album from the New York duo is to be imminent. On the world wide web they already give us the promising album track “Do It Again” and on her current tour in Germany they introduce their album live in advance.

The album is simply called as the band itself and will appear on april 29th on her New York based label DFA. Alex Frankel and Nick Millhiser began initially as studio musicians for Juan MacLean and formed her own project somewhere along the way.

Their sound is danceable electropop with strong 80s bonds, which has much to do more with their common interest in stone-age synthesizers, as produce with the idea of retro music for eternal nostalgia. On the contrary, their songs seem fresh as a daisy and contemporary, and what we can expect is an exciting and fresh album full of danceable, electronic, synth-disco songs, including quotations and with highest pop-appeal.

Black Van – Yearning (DFA)

Posted in Cut The Noize on March 4th, 2010 by alt

I was a bit surprised after i heard who the two guys behind Black Van are. Positivly surprised.

Well, it’s a get-together of two of the highly respected electronic music producers in Europe. koweSix, one half of Moonbootica and Kris Menace, who e.g. causes quite a stir with his remixes for Depeche Mode, LCD Soundsystem or Robbie Williams just to name a few.

With Black Van Kowe and Kris share their love for early electronica and disco sound and their first single “Yearing”, with a huge Emperor Machine Remix coming out on march 29th on DFA is such hot shot which makes me hungry for their following releases.
