Cocolores – Heart Quest

Posted in Cut The Noize on August 30th, 2011 by alt

If you aren’t aware of COCOLORES - they are an exciting newcomer duo hailing from Munich who just signed to Exploited.
Jason Heath (his mother sung in 70′s Disco Act “Silver Convention” – remember “Fly, Robin,Fly”?) and Manuel Garay – the names behind Cocolores (aged only 20 and 21) – release their debut EP on the label in late August.
Their first EP is a blend of 90′s house, with a delectable tinge of urban funkiness. Trust us. This mix will be definitely the top choice for your next house party. Mystical, light&soulful. Turn off the dark!

Homework, Doctor Dru & Adana Twins

Posted in Cut The Noize on August 16th, 2011 by alt

Shir Khan & Exploited dip their toes into the world of disco edits with the launch of new label Black Jukebox which sees contributions from label regulars Homework as well as introducing the Hamburg axis Doctor Dru & Adana Twins into the fold. It’s the latter that open proceedings with the two A Side bumps, proffering a nicely balanced tweak of Mtume’s “Juicy” which retains enough soul from the original whilst presenting it in a nicely recut fashion reminiscent of the great Tiger & Woods. Alongside it “Supreme” dips into housier territory with the primitive scratching and rising piano lines giving proceedings an 80s sensation soaked with twilight niceties. On the flip Homework do the near impossible, transforming Lenny Kravitz at his most indulgent into a glistening disco house number whilst “Love Ray” is perhaps the most straight up excursion into main room filtered disco house territory.

Homework - Hudson Square EP

Their new EP is more soulful than their last releases and should be appreciated especially by people who like the latest output by Wolf & Lamb or Crosstown Rebels. Soul Clap already give KUDOS….so do many other DJS do from all scenes involved.
Since their release of FISSA TUNE on EXPLOITED, HOMEWORK have been playing every weekend all over the best venues of Europe (including Panoramabar Berlin, Social Club Paris, Hive Club Zuerich, Culture Club Ghent and more). Their remix of “Say Whats?!” for the Round Table Knights will be released soon and we got more goodies coming by Homework on EXPLOITED your way. 2011 is definetly going to be Homework’s big year.

Homework – Fissa Tune (Exploited)

Posted in Cut The Noize on July 4th, 2010 by alt

Homework, a duo based in Amsterdam, have been teasing everyone with a little track from their upcoming EP on Exploited called “Fissa Tune” to be released on July 2nd. Not much to say about this, except expect to hear it a lot this summer. Already big with Brodinski, Jesse Rose, A-Trak, MANDY, Luciano, Round Table Knights, Sinden, dOP, Hudson Mohawke, Mosca, Telonius.

Homework, the 2 smart youngsters Tom&Zip who always dress up in immaculate white shirts and raven black ties, were introduced to electronic music through their work at a recordstore. They both share a love for IDM (“Intelligent Dance Music”) with artists like Aphex Twin, Boards of Canada and Autechre and started to touch on all grounds of electronic music via producers like Jeff Mills, Kraftwerk, Biosphere. Today as DJs, Tom&Zip play contemporary house music and give proof that Holland is not all about Dutch House.

CONSISTENT – AIN’T NO BUMP (EXPLOITED)

Posted in Cut The Noize on March 25th, 2010 by alt

From the desk of EXPLOITED RECORDS we present you the current house bomb by CONSISTENT.
Previously having released on FRONTROOM (“MIDNIGHT BLEND”) and TFE (“PROPER BALANCE”), CONSISTENT – the anonymous crew of well-known producers – puts the focus back on straight up house with their “AINT NO BUMP”-EP.
Having had recent success with remixes for DANIEL HAAKSMAN‘s “DEIXA TOCOR” on MAN RECORDINGS and TOMSKI&FREDBOY’s “DO THE TARTELET” (one of the club anthems at COOKIES Club Berlin in 2009) on TARTELET, this new installment on EXPLOITED now brings you 4 slices of modern jacking house.
CONSISTENT proceed to amaze, combining sexy vocal samples lurking deep in the mix, cut up heavy house chords and moody late night swings, seamlessly cycling through Mr Skruff-style trouser jazz, never stopping the addictive beats and bassline bounces. Joyously funky, it will reassure you that, thank God, CONSISTENT are not from Chicago, but from Berlin.
This 4 track-EP on EXPLOITED is designed to be a microcosm of a night out.

ARTWORK
EXPLOITED blend quality dance music with quality packaging and trendsetting design aesthetics. The current artwork is the kick-off to a new design series on Exploited. Expect more paintings from JANI LEINONEN who is probably one of the most intriguing artists in Helsinki. His work “UNDRESS ME“ (featured on Exploited) took inspiration from retro saucy/pornographic magazines. Get ready to feel used to enjoy exploitation.
