Yuksek – On A Train (Remixes)

Posted in Cut The Noize on August 1st, 2011 by alt

Yuksek is back, but not as you know him! Now heading up his very own fully formed band, the Frenchman here drops his first single with some able re-jigging assistance from the one and only Magician and the mighty Gucci Vump – to ensure his much loved club floors are kept happy.

In just a few years, French electronic artist Yuksek has managed to become one of the most respected producers in the French scene. Discovered in the middle of the last decade with his electro rock combo Klanguage, Yuksek then became a solo act and this was his avenue to fame, first through smashing remixes, then with his first solo album ‘Away from the Sea’. It was this album that featured the underground club electro classic ‘Tonight’, which made all clubbers around the world bang their heads & shake their arms, before becoming a radio hit in certain countries; being synched on a massive international Peugeot campaign. Several other tracks from his first solo effort were also synched for big brands such as Lacoste and Quicksilver. On his debut album, Yuksek (Pierre Alexandre Busson) also showed his talent for song-writing, and for composing electro productions with a pop twist (which are evident on his collaborations with Shit Disco, Amanda Blank (on the single ‘Extraball’) and the indie act The Bewitched Hands. Yuksek is also known for his amazing live performances (standing alone with his mic, keyboards and computer). His show has travelled around the globe and taken in the biggest clubs & festivals.

Yuksek released his new album ‘Living on the Edge of Time’ in June . On this album, Yuksek sings all the vocals & offers a poppier sound, keeping the machines edgy, sharp, and dance driven. On stage, Yuksek will now perform with two extra musicians. The first single ‘On a Train’ is already all over the web (1 million views of the trailer, half a million on the full video) through a Mega Mystery Band campaign. This campaign doesn’t reveal Yuksek’s identity yet, but has helped the track make waves on the internet already.
While ‘Living On The Edge Of Time’ has only begun its life in the open, Yuksek is already cooking up a new project with ex-Aeroplane man The Magician, plotting new material with pal Brodinski as The Krays, and who knows what else. Time will tell.

Bunny Lake – 1994

Bunny Lake

Welcome to the weird & wonderful world of BUNNY LAKE.

The collective from Vienna’s thriving electro-underground stands for both packed dancefloors and throbbing hearts. BUNNY LAKE’s music tells lurid tales of insatiable desires, of the fever of unreason and of the willful dissipation of the self.

With club hits such as “Disco Demons” or “Strobe Love” the band around singers Suzy On The Rocks and Christian Fuchs made the playlists of many globally renowned star DJs, while playing enthusiastically received gigs in Berlin, Amsterdam, New York, Prague, Budapest or Tallin, to say nothing of a celebrated tour of Mexico.

This globetrotting brought on further cosmopolitan connections. It led to remixes by Japanese electro superstar Shinichi Osawa, by various luminaries from the Brazilian Baile Funk scene, Australia’s Aston Shuffle or Londons DJ-hipsters Zombie Disco Squad and Tronik Youth. Various soundtrack contributions followed as well.

After two albums that daringly mixed rave references with pumping electro and a decidedly rock’n'roll attitude, the band and their regular producer Christopher Just (Kitsuné, Chicks On Speed) decided to launch themselves into the wonderful adventure that is pop.

Which is what brings us to BUNNY LAKE’s forthcoming third album which is to be released through Universal Music. “The Beautiful Fall” will open a door into a musical future beyond the action on the dancefloors – as tracks such as “1994″ or “Army Of Lovers” with their dreamy, hypnotic and blissful direction attest.

Melancholy is thus a new key ingredient in the sound world of the BUNNY gang, complete with exalted romanticism, burning passion and pure sparkling pop magic. Into the future, here we come.

As previous Bunny Lake releases „1994“ features a diverse line up of remixes as well.
The hip duo of Disco Villains from the States opens the round with a straight forward electro banger sure to get your crowd sweat.
Fantastic Heartbreak who lately have done a great remix job on SMDs uberhit „Cruel Intention“ are taking Bunny Lake on an italo-disco flavoured trip, followed by a version of Christopher Just who reactivated his ninenties hardcore rave alter ego Ilsa Gold literally taking us back in the year of “1994″.
