With Major Lazer, 2009 the sound of Jamaican dancehalls came in our circles finally. Diplo and Switch, who at that time already shared production-credits for M.I.A.s album and who were not innocent with Santigold’s success, translating the fictional character Major Lazer a monument.
Late last year Switch adopted from the project, which Diplo didn’t prevent to be the sole mastermind behind Major Lazor . Thus, the sound wizard raged out completely and served us a new mix of classic Jamaican dancehall and European electro beats. In contrast to the beat and hip-hop-heavy predecessor song “Original Don”, the new track “Get Free” comes in a fresh appearance, more quite and equipped with siren-like vocal pieces. The vocals are coming from “Dirty Projectors” singer Amber Coffman.
